Turner Prize 2022 – Veronica Ryan

I am delighted that artist Veronica Ryan has been awarded the 2022 Turner Prize.

The prize highlights the work of British visual artists and “aims to promote public debate around new developments in contemporary British art.”

This year, the judging panel recognised Ryan’s exceptional work, which includes her sculptures of Caribbean fruit – the first permanent public artwork to honour the Windrush generation.

The sculptures were installed in Hackney in 2021 and I had the honour of creating the educational resources and lesson plans to support the artwork in partnership with Create London and Hackney Council.

More information on the sculptures and lesson plans can be found here.
